Message from our Board Chair, Rhys Williams

Having been in the role of Board Chair at Casebrook Intermediate for nearly a year now, I can honestly say it has been an absolute pleasure to be involved with Principal Sharon Keen, Deputy Principal Nick Leith and the Senior Leadership Team, and the full compliment of Casebrook staff and students throughout 2015.

I joined our Board halfway through 2014, and toward the end of that year was asked if I would be interested in taking on the Board Chair role and responsibilities. Having had a son and daughter moving on from Casebrook at the end of 2014 off the back of two great years of education, it was an easy decision to stay involved and be a proactive contributor to the school and our community.

Casebrook Intermediate is a ‘school of opportunity’, and from all I’ve seen over the last three years, those opportunities are plentiful and very much a reality for our Year 7 and 8 students. From academic excellence, to the many sporting options, a strong Kapa Haka, or on the stage through the strength of our performing arts, Casebrook Intermediate is a school that not only offers the opportunities to be involved in, but through the time and dedication of the teaching and support staff has also allowed our students to deliver results at exceptional levels in all areas.

I would like to acknowledge our Head Girl and Head Boy, Hannah Lemon and Caleb Cottom, and the team of Student Leaders throughout the school, who have delivered a great standard of leadership excellence this year. Thank you for your diligent effort during 2015, you have all represented our school very proudly.

Recently we had the Education Review Office (ERO) join our school for a week to assess the quality of our education. Whilst we don’t yet have their final written report, their verbal debrief at the end of their time with us was nothing short of glowing. This is a true testament to the quality-learning environment that our teachers and staff have created, and to the application of our students who strongly embrace our school Values: Respect, Excellence, and Perseverance, across everything they do.

The Board would like to thank you, the parents of our students, and the wider Casebrook community for your support of our school, and for entrusting us with your child’s growth across 2015. It has been another sterling year of achievement at Casebrook, and your children can be proud of all they have achieved this year.

For those students leaving us at the end of 2015, thank you for choosing Casebrook as your choice of Intermediate School. For the current Year 7 students, we look forward to having you back in 2016 as the senior students of our school.

It only leaves me to wish you and your families a safe and well-earned holiday break. We look forward to seeing many of you next year.
