Well it’s that time of the year again; it’s ‘back to school’! Welcome to 2016! I trust you all had a great family holiday, and now well and truly ready to kick into another school year!

A sincere welcome to our new Year 7 students and their families, you have chosen to come to a great school of opportunity. Whether you have a strong drive for academic excellence, individual or team sporting pursuits, our growing performing arts, or our very strong Kapa Haka, there is definitely something for everyone at Casebrook Intermediate. We strongly encourage you to make the most of all the many opportunities in front of you, and if you’re not yet sure on what’s right for you, then please take a moment to talk to our Year 8 students. They can tell you all about the many activities you can get involved in.

To our now Year 8 students, welcome home to Casebrook Intermediate for another exciting year! We look forward to your continued engagement at school.

Some of our Year 8 students have earned themselves leadership roles for 2016. Congratulations! ‘Student Voice’ is an important and vital part of life at Casebrook. Having a student leadership focus provides all our students with a platform to share their input and give us feedback, to make sure we are providing the best possible learning environment for everyone.

Toward the end of 2015 we had the Education Review Office in our school for a week. You can now download their ERO report by going to our homepage, www.casebrook.school.nz, and click on the ‘ERO Report’ link on the left side of the page. The final report is a fantastic result for Casebrook Intermediate, and affirms we are focusing and succeeding in all the right areas of today’s modern education curriculum. Thank you to all our teaching and support staff, and to our students, who together create a place where positive learning and strong student engagement is very much alive.

As our children start getting older, we often find there are fewer opportunities to get involved with their daily life at school. At Casebrook Intermediate the PTA is one opportunity to stay connected, and support the good things that our PTA facilitate for our school and students. If it weren’t for a strong PTA, many of our student activities and benefits would be much harder to realise. So, if you are keen to get involved and be a proactive contributor to our school life, please contact our main office and we will make sure to connect you with the right people.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for choosing Casebrook Intermediate for your child. We look forward to providing all our students with a continued quality education in 2016. See you around the school.

Best regards,

Rhys Williams
