Nanogirl and the Great Experiment Podcast Recording at the International Antarctic Centre

On Wednesday 13th March 2019 I had the pleasure of taking a keen group of Casebrook Scientists to the International Antarctic Centre to record a podcast episode for Nanogirl and the Great Experiment.

On Wednesday 13th March 2019 a group of eight students (Nicole Walters, Annaliese McEwan, Aaliyah Morrison, Briana Banks, Isaac Yao, Braeden Yu, Ashton Fairley, and Jonty Somerville) got to take part in an exciting new project, “Nanogirl and the Great Experiment”, a science podcast produced by Nanogirl Labs and Radio New Zealand.

The students, along with Dr Michelle Dickinson (Nanogirl) and scientist Gary Wilson, visited the International Antarctic Centre where an audio recording of their questions and discussion was taken.

The students were a bit nervous at first and some were shy about this strange new process of having their voices recorded, but after some practices and some laughs, they eased into being recorded and their natural inquisitiveness and curiosity came out.

I think this was a great opportunity for the students to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes when recording a podcast and to ask questions of a real scientist that works in the field.

When the link to our podcast episode is released we can share it so everyone can have a listen.

Attached to this article are some recounts of their experiences that the students wanted to share.
