Casebrook Update - Thursday 21st May

We've had a great start to life back at school!

Kia ora koutou,

A great week so far! Teachers have really felt the energy and enthusiasm that students have brought with them back to school. Many litres of hand sanitiser and disinfectant spray have been used but school life and routines are getting back to normal in a majority of ways. Thanks for helping the students get back into school routines and supporting them around any worries they might have had about returning to school this week.

This communication contains info about the rest of the term so please take a moment to go through it.

Visitors:

Thank you to our parents who have supported keeping visitors to a bare minimum at this stage. We do have our school app with a visitor check-in function on it and a register to be written on for anyone who needs to come on-site - this is in the foyer prior to entering the office. A request for parents to continue staying out of classrooms and only entering the site via the main office. Thanks.

Absences:

The Ministry of Education has advised all schools around illness as we head into the winter months. Key to this is keeping ill children at home for at least 48 hours. Please check our updated page on our school website about this as it will be important for all parents as we deal with colds and run down kids and family members:

Casebrook Challenge Assemblies:

We are holding a Term 1 Casebrook challenge assembly next Tuesday for our students (only). There will be plenty of photos of badge awardees in next Thursday’s newsletter. We have really valued parent attendance at these previously but until things settle down on the COVID front we ask visitors to stay off-site.

We have a Term 2 Casebrook challenge assembly scheduled for the final day of the term (Friday, 3rd July) so hopefully conditions will be more suitable to welcome whānau back by then.

Casebrook Teacher Only Day Cancelled:

This was scheduled to take place on Friday 29th May (next week) but in light go recent events we are not going ahead with it.

Student conferences / Parent-teacher Interviews:

These have been re-scheduled to take place in 5 weeks time on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th of June.

We will be finishing the school day at 2pm to accommodate these evenings. Booking schedules for each class will be shared with parents closer to the time. These are normally scheduled for the second week of Term 3 so we are moving them forward as the Term 1 interviews were missed due to the lockdown.

Mufti Day Tomorrow:

We are having a ‘pink shirt’ mufti tomorrow as part of our anti-bullying (and being kind to each other) efforts. There is no charge for students who wear pink. If not participating, students will need to wear school uniform as normal.

Lockdown Constructions:

A request that any lockdown contractions or projects that are able to be brought into school are sent in from next week. We know our students worked really hard on different projects during the lockdown and would love to share these with our community in a display. They will be stored safely until such time this display takes place.

Thanks again, we have had a great start to post-lockdown school life and getting things as back to normal as possible.

Ngā mihi nui,
