Action Packed Holidays

We wanted to know what other students were up to during their holidays. We decided to ask some students.

Hayden Jones (Rm 14) Lee Simpson (Room 6) and Jake Holmes (Room 13) took part in a basketball tournament. We interviewed them to find out the highlights and lowlights.

What team were you playing in?

Kaiapoi

Whereabouts was the tournament?

St Thomas, Middleton Grange and Hillmorton High

How long had you been training for?

We only had three team practices

What was the most difficult part of the tournament?

It was the final against Eastside Basketball because they almost won the tournament. We ended up winning against them, by only one point

What was the highlight of the tournament?

After the games someone was awarded ‘dummy’ of the game. It was given out to someone who did something silly during the game. The costume for the winner of the award consisted of funny gloves, a funny skirt, mouse ears and a purple polka dot tie.

Hunter Blyth (Room 3) took part in a football tournament. We interviewed him to find out the highlights and lowlights.

Nomads

Whereabouts was the tournament?

Christchurch United

How long had you been training for?

We had been training for a month or two

What was the most difficult part of the tournament?

Playing against CFC because they were a really good team

What was the highlight of the tournament?

Scoring a penalty to beat CFC who were the hosts of the tournament

Max Brazier (Room 16) 

What was the competition you entered?

I recreated the Chronicle Thrill (the waterslide at Hanmer pools) with Lego.

Did you win any prizes?

Yes, I won a free family pass for Hanmer pools and two free pizzas at the cafe at the pools.

How long did it take you to create your creation?
It took me 3 days to create my masterpiece

What was the hardest part about building your creation?

The hardest part was trying to get the shape perfect.

What did you think when you won?

I was really excited and proud of myself because I really like Lego and it was the first Lego competition I have ever won.  

Sawyer Johnson (Room 16) 

What was the competition that you won?

It was a competition for my athletics club (Papanui Toc H)

What prizes did you win?

I won a trophy, a certificate and points for my club.

Did you have fun?

Yes I had lots of fun representing my athletics club.

How long have you been doing athletics?

I've been doing it for 3 years.

How did you get into athletics?

My brother started doing it and I thought it would be fun.

Emma and Katelyn Hunt (Room 7 and 8), trip to Dunedin 

What was your favourite part of your trip?

Spending time with our family and going to the Butterfly House.

Where else did you go in Dunedin?

We visited Nana’s friend & Larnach Castle and the Early Settlers Museum. Our ancestors were on the wall because they were the first settlers.

When did you go to Dunedin?

Monday on the first week of school holidays.

Did you stop anywhere on the way back?

Yes we stopped at a cafe and the food was delicious.
