This Week’s “Must Read” Review by Cate Donaldson-Scott, Room 16

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot is a hilarious, well-known story. Once you’ve read the book, you can watch the movie (which is always a bonus!).

Mia is just a normal high school student with a busy life when her father rocks her whole world upside down. Mia Thermopolis is no longer just a Thermopolis. She's Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, Princess of Genovia. But, Mia has other ideas. What if she doesn't want to be a princess? What if Mia wants to be a leader of Greenpeace, not some Princess of a tiny country on the borders of France?

Overall, I would give this book a rating of 8 out of 10 as it was well written and entertaining, but the diary style gets slightly tiresome. It makes sense, but it would be interesting to see someone else's point of view. I would recommend this to anyone above the age of 11, as some of the themes aren’t meant for younger children.
