Tēnā Koutou Katoa - Students provided with the opportunity to revise their First Aid knowledge as classes work with St John.

Many of us have been in situations that require First Aid knowledge and so by upskilling our young people, we hope they will be confident if a situation arises and their skills are required.

Thank you for your support of our Staff Only Day.  It was a very positive experience for staff to work alongside teachers from other schools and the presenters were all of a very high caliber.

Many of our classes are currently visiting the Redwood Library. This is part of our programme to encourage regular reading amongst all of our students.  They are issued with a library card, if they do not already have one and taught how the library works.  Thank you to the Redwood Library staff and Jacinta Clark for organising these visits.

A reminder that our staff are attending a stop-work meeting on Wednesday, June 23.  Students will be leaving the grounds at 1:00 pm.  If you would like your child supervised for the afternoon please complete the form that can be found later in this newsletter.

Last week we began a whakataukī and kupu competition. Each week we have a new whakataukī and a list of three kupu. Classes need to present the whakataukī in a way of their choosing - this could be a real-life example of the whakataukī, a skit, a waiata, the list goes on. Each Friday judges from Room 1 will go around classes and score each class out of 10. Well done to Room 2, 5 and 13 for taking out the first week!

Frequently we are asked about our homework program, Casebrook Challenge.  The reading and mathematics component is compulsory for all students.  The challenge activities are optional but we strongly recommend that you work with your child to assist them in achieving a badge each term.  The activities are designed to be user-friendly for family life. Developing the routine of working regularly on activities and meeting deadlines is creating good work habits for the future.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

Enrolments are now open for 2022.  If you know of a Year 6 student who intends to join us next year please encourage them to enrol.  We have a school zone but our student capacity is greater than the students within the zone.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact us.
