Dental Care during the School Holidays

The Community Dental Service will be providing dental care for children enrolled with our service during the upcoming school holidays. The clinics will offer check-ups, treatment and relief of pain sessions by appointment only. To make an appointment please call/email our Contact Centre which operates between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday throughout the holidays.

The following Dental Clinics will be open during these school holidays:

· Northcote Clinic, 24, Tuckers Road, Casebrook,

· Hillmorton Clinic, Hillmorton Hospital, Sylvan Street,

The clinics will offer appointments between 8.15am and 4.15pm for school age and preschool children. If your child has dental pain because of an accident, please contact your dentist in the first instance.

Want to get off your device and do something active?9Round Papanui is a 30 minute functional workout incorporating some boxing.We have been running a school holiday programme just for kids aged 10 - 18 years and this time you're invited! Ōtautahi Christchurch Community Strategy 2021-2031: We value your feedback – open until Monday 25 October 2021

The refreshed draft strategy, previously known as the Strengthening Communities Strategy and now renamed as the Ōtautahi Christchurch Community Strategy 2021-2031, is open for feedback from 10 September to 25 October 2021. The strategy reflects the Council’s continued commitment to building, in partnership with others, inclusive, safe and resilient communities. Submissions can be made online and staff will be available to discuss the draft strategy at drop-in sessions that are listed on the website at the following link: https://www.ccc.govt.nz/the-council/haveyoursay/show/353

A drop-in session in the Papanui-Innes ward area has been arranged (subject to any COVID-19 Alert Level changes and health and safety requirements):

Nor'West Arc Cycleway – Section 3: Feedback open until 12 October

We’re making it safer to bike, walk and drive with our new cycleway linking the University to Papanui via Jellie Park. Separating bikes from cars means there’s more space for drivers and cyclists, making it safer for everyone on the road. Empowering Positive Change Course

We’re in level 2, so we’re going ahead with our 3 day Empowering Positive Change programme:

There are still some places available, so get those enrolment forms in! We’ll be supplying masks for those who need them.

Dates: 28, 29 and 30 September.

Times: arrive 8.30am for 9am start (finish at 4.30pm)

Venue: Kiwi Family Trust, 420 St Asaph Street, Phillipstown

If you have clients who are unsure if they qualify for sponsorship, please give me a call so we can have a chat and sort it out. We really don’t want there to be any barriers to anyone coming along. As far as we’re concerned, “I’d love to do the training, but I can’t afford to pay for it” constitutes compassionate grounds for sponsorship.

Parenting Now and Beyond Programme

Purpose of this workshop: To empower you with the self-confidence to be the parent you need to be. To allow you insight into your own inherent strengths and weaknesses. To identify key issues which are important to your children. To remain "connected" to your compassionate self during

6disagreements with your children. To insure good decisions are made relating to the health and wellbeing of you, your partner and your children.

The programme is free and will run on Tuesday mornings. Please see attached for more information.

Christchurch Methodist Mission – Wise-Up Programme

Wise-Up is an 8 session life skills programme for 8-10 year olds. It supports children to recognise feelings and emotions, and explores new and different ways of dealing with these. Workshops are also offered to support and inform caregivers of the children attending the programme. Please see attached for more information.
