Casebrook Update - Red Setting Phase 3 - Friday 25th Feb

By Nick Leith | Posted: Thursday February 24, 2022

After yesterday's announcement by the government, we have moved into 'Phase three' of the Covid response under red setting.

Kia ora koutou,

After yesterday's announcement by the government, we have moved into 'Phase three' of the Covid response under red setting.

What this means for you at home and for us at school is actually less confusing than the previous settings around around close contacts.

We are waiting for any finer details from the Ministry of Education and Health around the impacts that phase three has on schools but it is outlined clearly on the covid19.govt website:

Close Contacts

At Phase 3, Close Contacts no longer need to isolate. If you get a notification from your workplace, school or through the NZ COVID Tracer app that you (or your child) are a Close Contact, you should monitor your symptoms for 10 days. If you (or your child) develop symptoms get a test, and you should isolate until you get your result.

If you live with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you are considered a Household Contact and will need to isolate for 10 days.
You must get a test on Day 3 and Day 10 of your isolation. If you develop symptoms you should get a test sooner.
If you are a Household Contact and you test positive, you will need to isolate for 10 days.

From Friday 25 February, if you are currently a Close Contact and are part way through your isolation, you do not need to complete your 10 days isolation and you will be permitted to leave. You do not need to get a negative COVID-19 test.

At Casebrook
- This means we will not likely to be sending any classes home as close contacts (we haven't had to do this to date anyway)

- It places extra clear emphasis on whānau not sending students to school who are unwell and especially those displaying any Covid symptoms. We will continue to send students home who are unwell.

- We continue to wear masks and work in well ventilated spaces with an emphasis on cleanliness and social distancing where possible.

- We ask that all parents/caregivers/whānau contact the school ASAP if they are self isolating due to a positive covid case in the household at:

office@casebrook.school.nz

skeen@casebrook.school.nz

nleith@casebrook.school.nz

We will provide any further details should that be required over the next few days.

If you know of a family in your community who is struggling, please encourage them to reach out for support (eg to access food, medicine, or access financial support) via the COVID 19 support hub -

Kia pai tō rā whakatā,
