On Friday the 20th of May Casebrook Intermediate hosted a Pink Shirt Day. Rose Carney and Mrs Russell set up some activities in the hall for students to do. There were things such as spin the wheel and writing positive messages to a friend.

What is pink shirt day?

Rose Carney: Pink shirt day for me is a day to remember that bullying is never ok and all decisions that others in our community are to be respected.

Chichi Li: Pink shirt day for me is to help others feel confident of what they wear and do.

Why did you want to take part in pink shirt day?

Rose: Because I wanted to let people know that it is always better to be kind and caring to each other but to also spread the word around the school is always be Respectful.

Chichi: I participated in pink shirt day because I wanted to be there for a friend and let others understand the meaning of pink shirt day.

Did you help come up with the ideas for the activities in the hall?

Rose: Yes, Miss Russell and I had come up with these ideas with the use of teamwork and we had some help with students in Room 20 so a massive thank you to them and a massive amount of thank you to my mum for helping out with the prizes that kids got and I hope you enjoyed those.

Chichi: No I did not come up with the ideas, But I did help setting some things up.

What was your favourite part of the pink shirt day?

Rose: My favourite part of pink shirt day was seeing everyone so happy and excited to attend the activities in the hall and also the students who dressed all amazing in pink and thanks to everyone for your support and effort.

Chichi: My favourite part of pink shirt day was seeing how many people came to school dressed fully pink and having so much fun at the activities in the hall. So many people were waiting very patiently to play spin the wheel, and the line was huge!

If you could send out one message to every student at Casebrook about bullying or pink shirt day what would it be?

Rose: My message would be that it is never okay to bully or be bullied and there is always time for change. We have amazing staff here at Casebrook that are always here for you and it's always the right thing to reach out to one another if you're getting bullied.

Chichi: It's never cool to bully or make fun of other students around you. Always respect other people's opinions and what they do. Remember, everyones different and that's what makes them special.
