Tēnā Koutou Katoa - Welcome to Term Three

Beginning the term with a Mihi Whakatau provided all those new to Casebrook - Te Kura Mareko, with a very warm welcome and set the scene for the term ahead. Congratulations to our Kapa Haka students for showing such passion and well done to all of our students for showing such respect during a special event.

I too look forward to returning to school this term.  I ruptured my Archillies and so was very limited in what I could do during Term Two.  Over the next few weeks I will have a managed return to full time.  In my absence Nick Leith took over as acting Principal and did an absolutely superb job with the full support of all our staff.  Thank you to all for making Term Two such a success in difficult, unpredictable times.

Thank you to all who have or still are to attend a learning conference with your child and their teacher.  These opportunities to share learning experiences help reinforce the importance of school and the learning that happens there.  If you were unable to make it this week please feel free to contact the classroom teacher at any time.

As a follow on from the importance of valuing learning is the importance of regular and punctual school attendance. This is the topic of a National focus and while at Casebrook we have monitored this for some time and achieving at or near National targets we still believe we can do better.  Please, if your child is unwell keep them home as you have been advised but if the symptoms continue go to the doctor and have them email the school a medical certificate.  This is free.  If there are other barriers that are preventing your child attending regularly please contact us.  We have access to a wide range of resources and have time to help.  If, as a community we can identify specific needs we will apply for funding and put a programme or resources in place.  We really do want to hear from you and you can  be assured we will offer support.  Our only interest is to have all our young people at school as regularly as possible so we can then focus on their learning.

The term calendar is attached and we look forward to working with you over the coming weeks.  As always, if you have questions or concerns please contact us.
