Talofa Lava - Ski Trips, New Block & CAIMS Tournament

By Trina Wilkinson | Posted: Wednesday August 24, 2022

Monday and Tuesday saw our school participate in the CAIMS Sports Tournament across Ōtautahi. It was a fantastic opportunity for our sports teams to get out and compete after a very disjointed Tuesday Hagley Sports rotation.

Congratulations go to our Girls Football Team who placed 2nd in the tournament as well as our Boys Table Tennis team, who also placed 2nd. The students who did not participate in the tournament took part in Talent Days here at kura where there were a lot of options, from Lolly Cake Making right through to Digital Escape Rooms.

Our back block has been completed and the classes are excited to move into their new learning space this week. TPW 43 & 44, Room 17 and 20 will be moving into what is known as Rooms 9 -12. This means that the next phase of building is underway of our DigiTech and Foods Technology Rooms.

Across our Kāhui Ako which encompasses - Redwood Primary, Cotswold School, Te Kura o Matarangi (Northcote), Bishopdale School, Papanui Primary School and Papanui High School have celebrated Mātauranga Māori with an excellent exhibition at our local libraries. There has also been the Primary Schools CantaMath competition, which was held at Casebrook last week.

The next thing on the Kāhui calendar is a primary schools Ki O Rahi Tournament which will be run by Casebrook Intermediate students and then our Cultural Festival which will be happening in Term 4. All very exciting and engaging things for students across our Kāhui to be a part of.

Tuesday the 30th of August is our "On Our Way" performance where our performing arts groups will be putting on a showcase of their talents for our school community. This will be happening in our school hall at 6:30pm, we warmly invite you to attend.

Our second ski trip - a huge thank you to Char Rennie for her organisation and planning of this event - is happening on today. Fingers crossed for a great day up at Mt Hutt.

Fa'afetai tele lava (thank you) for your ongoing support and please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
