Tōtaranui Kāhui Ako Festival Back for 2022

After COVID-19 cancelled our annual cultural festival in 2021; it was an absolutely awesome moment to be able to hold it this year.

Celebrating cultural diversity is something that our Kāhui Ako definitely does to a high standard. Earlier this term it was demonstrated by our cultural festival that saw all schools in our Kāhui Ako represented on the stage. From our Early Childhood Centres to our local high school there was passion, mana and pride shown from all our kura.

Te Kura Mareko Casebrook had our Kapa Haka, Korean Dance & Pasifika groups all perform. A fantastic effort over the year for these three groups to get to performance standard.

The cultural leaders, Anthony, Keira, Nysha and Zayden were our MC's for the festival and did an exceptional job. Ka mau te wehi.

Alongside the performances, free food was also put on for the community from Pasifika and Māori cultures. Of course there was the good ole kiwi sausage sizzle too.

This event does not happen without the support of our awesome school communities. The numbers would have reached over 700 during the course of the afternoon.

A huge thank you to our Casebrook staff who pitched in to get the mahi done. A huge congratulations to all our performers. We look forward to our next event in 2023.

A movie of the event will be shared to our school YouTube before the end of the year.
