An Interview with Mr Russell

By Isla Sandford and Jade Elkington | Posted: Tuesday April 4, 2017

On Tuesday the the fourth of April we interviewed Mr Russell, he is our school curriculum support and student wellbeing co-ordinator.

Mr Russell was born in Christchurch and grew up in Christchurch with two older brothers.  He went to St Bedes College and Canterbury University.  He studied teaching and learning, and is now studying for a masters in counselling.  He is now working at Casebrook Intermediate and he loves his job here. His favourite thing about his job is that he can make kids feel happy and help them with any problems at home or at school.

When Mr Russell was a kid we wanted to be a teacher and if he wasn’t going to be a teacher he wanted to be a firefighter. Why? Because his dad had always been a firefighter.  Mr Russell always looked up to his dad and wanted to be exactly like him.  Some goals that Mr Russell achieved were starting St Bedes and also finishing school, becoming a teacher by working hard at university and being able to travel overseas.

Mr Russell said he loves to plays rugby league, pool and frisbee golf in his free time, additionally he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, watching movies and travelling.  When he gets his own house he would love to own a dog but right now he has two cats, Carlton and Boots.

His main passion is travelling and exploring geography. He also loves watching the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  Mr Russell has travelled around 20 countries through Asia and more,  has met some really interesting people, cut off snake heads and drank their blood!

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Mr Russell for making the time to answer our questions.
