Chemistry Chaos and Rocketing Around

Giving you a bit of an idea as to what has been going on in the Science Room this past term.

Our Year 7 students have been working on a topic called Chemistry Chaos.  Here they have discovered what makes great bubbles, how to use red cabbage as an indicator for bases and acids and solve a mystery using chromatography amongst other things.

Rocketing Around is our current Year 8 topic.  Students have been looking at rocket design - the importance of nose cone shape, the purpose of fins and the concept of drag.  Students have also tested out different methods for launching their rockets - the rocket cannister launch experiment was probably the most dramatic.  This topic will conclude with students planning a mission to Mars.
