St John Competitions

At St John all of the districts have a competition, this was held in the weekend at Hillmorton High School, and I was one the people that got to go to the competition from Christchurch No 3 Division.

There were 3 groups: Junior, Intermediate and Senior.

I was in Junior because I had never done it before. There were loads of competitors that went to compete from all over Canterbury. There were different kinds of categories that you had to compete in: Communication, First Aid, Caregivers, Drill, the Basics and the written test.

My team came 2nd equal in the written test and 3rd in Drill. I was so proud of our team and especially myself since it was my first time competing. Division No 3 got a lot of awards and some people are going to Regionals in Greymouth. I really enjoy St John because you get to learn skills, make new friends and earn badges, my favourite badge is the Water Safety Badge. We meet Tuesday nights at St Luke's Church at 7:00-8:30pm, you should come and check it out.
