The teacher union (NZEI) has called a national stop - work meeting on Wednesday 7th September at 1:30 pm at the Horncastle Arena.

The NZEI is entitled to do so under the Employment Relations Act 2000.

All teachers are expected to attend this meeting at which they will be discussing the intention of the Government to pursue a modified “bulk funding” policy to pay teachers. There is mounting opposition to the proposal from the teacher groups and unions, and the NZEI and PPTA have combined their resources for the first time to oppose it together.

We ask that you can make alternative arrangements for your child from 12:30pm. There will be a very small number of non-union member staff to supervise students in the library but there will be no formal instruction.

Please complete the attached form and return prior to Wednesday 7th, if you would like your child supervised.

Thank you for your support in this matter.
