On Sunday the 25th of February many Casebrook Intermediate students competed in the Christchurch kids Weetbix TRYathlon which was held at Jellie Park in Burnside.

The Weetbix kids TRYathlon is the biggest kids event worldwide and is only held in New Zealand, so it wasn’t a surprise when the morning session sold out, causing many children to compete the afternoon event. The total number of competitors was 3500. The competitors were required to do a 7km bike ride, 100m swim and 1.5km run.

Jack Reeves and Matthieu Rigter, both from Room 13, entered in the event. Matthieu competed in the morning and Jack in the afternoon. Jack has done it 4 years in a row now and still continues to enjoy it. A comment from Jack was “I would encourage any child to do it. It is and always will be a fun and well organised event”.
