New Collaborative Learning Space

At the beginning of Term Two the new collaborative learning space was completed. It is built to substitute the old classrooms; Rooms 5, 6, 7, 8 and the library.

This morning we interviewed a few students and the teacher from Room 7. The students declared that the new classrooms were more spacious and warmer than the other classrooms. “It’s much more spacious and warm. It is also soundproof. I also liked the large glass doors,” a student commented.

We also asked some of the Room 8 students what they thought about their new learning spaces. This is what they said. ‘’The rooms are warm and cozy due to the new heaters and double glazing. They have lots of storage such as behind the whiteboard. It also has an extra back room for us to learn quietly in’’. This room is a shared space with Room 7 and 8.

The disadvantages of the rooms were that there were no curtains so everyone could glance inside as they wander pass. There are also no doors at the rear of the classroom. We do understand that the new blinds were to be installed soon.

The Room 7 teacher, Miss Bull, thought the new classrooms were awesome. “It’s lovely, clean, tidy and has lots of space. There are no disadvantages other than it taking too long to build.”

The new collaborative learning spaces are great areas for learning and achieving. We hope the whole school is remodelled along this line.
