International Students Casebrook Intermediate

Casebrook Intermediate is an appealing, popular school located in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Our school caters for students aged 10-14 years of age. We currently have a school roll of approximately 485 students.

There are 16 classrooms in our school, each containing between 28-30 students. Usually, we only place two Fee paying International students in each classroom.

Casebrook Intermediate has large spacious grassed sports grounds and an architecturally designed play area. This play area is designed to give our students exercise and physical challenges.

Our students all attend specialist classes in The Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Digital Technology, Food, and Hard Materials.

All students take part in sport and physical education activities.

Music lessons are available to all students with optional instrument hire. Our school has an orchestra, rock band, choir, and a specialist singing and dance groups.

We also have a Pasifika Culture Group, Korean Dance group and a Måori Kapa Haka Group.

At Casebrook, we will provide your child with quality academic and sporting and cultural experiences.

Casebrook’s International Student Programme

Our International Director, Mrs Tracy Goulden supports our International students, their agents, homestays, and parents. She is available 24 hours, seven days a week. Students are given an emergency contact card with homestay details and the International Coordinators 24 hour contact phone numbers.

Our International students are placed in a small ESOL class to suit their English ability. ESOL lessons are usually attended three times a week. Our International students will have regular English homework from their ESOL tutors.

Our homestay families are police vetted and visited by the International Director to ensure that both students and host families are supported and happy. All our homestays are expected to provide a safe, caring home environment for our International students. International students are interviewed each term to see how they are feeling about their homestay families and school life.

To support this, the New Zealand government has developed the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016. Casebrook is a signatory of this Code.

More information on this Code of Practice is available at Code of Practice

The Education Review Office (ERO) is a government department whose purpose is to evaluate and report publicly on the education and care of students in schools.
