We asked our Casebrook 2022 Kapa Haka Leaders some questions about what they are into and love about our school.

Anthony Thurlow

What do you love about Casebrook?

I love Casebrook for all the sports and extension group opportunities we have throughout the school year you can do eg: Pacifica, art extension, kapa haka, and lots more.

What do you love about Kapa Haka at Casebrook?

The way it helps a lot of people come closer together and that it is very inclusive for anyone that would like to join in.

What are you looking forward to most about the year?

In the future, I am looking forward to the Tūhono Kapa Haka tournament, and playing league.

What things do you like to do in your spare time?

I play football four times a week, listen to music a lot and I love hanging out with my friends.

Which special talents do you have?

My talents are that I'm decent at football and I am weirdly good at throwing a vortex.

Kiera Van Steeg

What do you love about Casebrook?

I love how there are so many activities and opportunities that they have provided for us to participate in, for example different sport, cultural, tech, musical groups and so much more. There is no doubt that Casebrook has at least one activity that students would find interesting and want to try out!

What do you love about Kapa Haka at Casebrook?

Some of the many things I love about Kapa Haka is that you're not just learning new waiata but you're also learning about the meaning behind the waiata and some of the Māori history too. I also love that we get the chance to perform and compete in competitions.

What are you looking forward to most about the year ahead?

I'm really looking forward to any time this year that we get to perform Kapa Haka not just to others at Casebrook but the wider community too. I am also looking forward to if we get the chance to go to Tūhono so that we can try to improve our scores and still hold onto our winning streak.

What things do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to sing, listen to music, call or message friends and learn new skills.

Which special talents do you have?

A special talent I have is that I am pretty good at pinball!
