It was a hit at the Matariki Celebration, and a few whānau members wanted the recipe. So here is a version of it, unfortunately we can't share Mr Foster or Miss Wilkinson's secret recipe!

1 Brown Onion

Crushed Garlic

Crushed Ginger

Dark Soy Sauce

2 packets Vermicelli

1kg Steak

Oil

Salt/Pepper

Method

1. Brown the onion, garlic and ginger in a small amount of oil until translucent and fragrant.

2. Add in steak and brown off. When cooked add in soy sauce - up to you how much you want to put in.

3. While the steak is marinading in the soy sauce, ginger, onion and ginger. Soak your vermicelli in hot water until soft and then cut to size with clean scissors.

4. Add your vermicelli to the cooked steak and vegetables, add more soy sauce to your taste.

5. Let it simmer away and check the noodles are colouring from the soy and taste as you go.

6. Once the noodles are soft and meat is tender enjoy!

7. It is delicious served with rice or green bananas and coconut cream.
