Boys Summer Hagley Cricket Tournament 2022

On the 28th and 29th of November the boys cricket team headed out to Hagley Park to compete in a tournament.

They were one of many teams that participated. It was a 20 over tournament, the boys played Hillview Christian School first, then Medbury on the first day. With it being Casebrook’s first game they sadly weren’t up to their normal standards, even with some of the players not at their best the team still showed perseverance. They set a decent target as they were batting first, sadly they weren’t able to defend their total.

The second game, Medbury won the toss and decided to bat. They had a very strong batting side but our team put up a fight. We set them to a total that was chase-able, 178. Unfortunately for our Casebrook teams their three best batters went out quite early on, although they did manage to get 90 runs by the 10th over. Sadly this was another loss, they ended up getting a total of 158, only 20 runs off the required total. They played very well on the first day of the tournament.

The second day brought great news to the team, they started off with a great win against Heaton. All the players played very well and it paid off. Later on that day they got another win! This time it was against St. Thomas. Casebrook bowled first and kept them down to a reasonable score. Then they batted well with good contributions from everyone. It was a close game down to the last ball when St Thomas needed a wicket and Casebrook just couldn't afford to lose a wicket. So out came Joel to face the last ball, the ball got bowled and Joel hit the ball but it went straight to a fielder on the full and he got caught but luckily it bounced twice before it reached the batsmen. So it was a no ball which means he didn't get out and Casebrook won. The second day was a much better day than the first.

Thank you to Mr Case for taking us on this tournament!!
