Mana Tamaiti is an in school programme that a group of our Pasifika students were lucky enough to take part in this year.

Over the last two terms a group of 20 students who have Pasifika heritage have been engaged in a programme through Tagata Moana Trust that fosters interest and passion in STEAM.

Projects they have been involved in have included: film making, game and coding, 3D printing and design, cultural adornment creation, pasifika design and learning about the history and culture of the various islands.

The students have really enjoyed this new initiative and look forward to it each week. This Tuesday is their last session where they will complete a design and turn it into a tee shirt or bag.

This opportunity was fully funded through Tagata Moana Trust and Ministry of Education. It is a group we hope to continue in 2023.

STEAM is an exciting career pathway for students to consider and to have a Pasifika lens to learn through has made it that more alluring for our students.
